New classes for faith-based lay health promoters

The Center for Faith and Community Health Transformation recently completed two online courses for lay health promoters on infant and maternal health and on mental health. You can use this link to get to the classes. Both are offered free of charge, though you will need to create a user ID to be able to access them. Both of these classes integrate spirituality and faith practices into the curriculum and provide practical approaches for supporting the health of childbearing persons and their babies and the mental health of people in our communities.

Rooted in Love: Promoting Infant and Maternal Health

This course covers key issues in infant and maternal health–what creates health and well-being for parenting people and their babies, what creates challenges to their well-being, and how positive social connection and relationships can help protect families and help their babies thrive.

Nurturing Hope: Understanding and Responding to Mental Health Challenges

This course explores what mental health is and looks specifically at depression and anxiety as two mental health concerns that are very common. The course also looks at how stigma and shame can make it hard for people to get treatment, the power of relationships to heal, and how CHWs can work with people experiencing mental health challenges.
